post by The Well-Tempered Ear, which tried to compare Yuja
Wang with Lola Astanova, who just made her Carnegie debut in a concert packed with famous guests.
So when the Ear asked:

ReplyDeleteEl título de la página no engaña a nadie, pero me parece perversa la comparación entre Lola Astanova y Yuja Wang por cuestiones tan superficiales como puedan ser la ropa o el aspecto físico de sus agentes. Las fotos están elegidas de forma sesgada e interesada: aparece una foto antigua de Yuja Wang en la que sale mal frente a otra de Lola en todos su esplendor; en la foto en la que salen tocando muestra a Yuja Wang en un espacio privado y a Lola Astanova en un teatro o en un auditorio: comprobad vosotros mismos dónde están rodados la mayoría de los vídeos de una y de otra para ver si esta comparación es justa.

1) ¿En qué temporadas, ciclos de conciertos y festivales tocan?
2) ¿En qué salas, teatros y auditorios dan conciertos que no sean benéficos?
3) ¿Con qué orquestas y qué directores colaboran una y otra? ¿Lola Astanova ha tocado con Claudio Abbado o con Gustavo Dudamel?
4) ¿Con qué músicos hacen una y otra música de cámara? ¿Lola Astanova ha tocado con artistas de la talla de Leonidas Kavakos o de Gauthier Capuçon?
5) ¿En qué sellos discográficos graban sus discos? ¿Lola Astanova graba en Deutsche Grammophon o en algún otro sello de esa categoría?
Lola Astanova es una pianista espléndida con una técnica formidable, pero no está entre la élite mundial, lugar que sí le corresponde a Yuja Wang.
I'd go with a third choice: Khatia Buniatishvili, she's outstanding! I particularly enjoy her Concerto In 34D Major!

ReplyDeleteI saw/heard Yuja Wang in Santiago de Chile last October 2018 and I think she is a extraordinaire pianist and better person, she signed autographs for more then 150 persons (included myself)in the County Theater after a awesome concert.She is the number one!!
